JIDAR (wall), 2011

Installation, fabric woven of 35‘000 meters cotton yarn, 200 x 300cm, milled text

In 2002 Israel began with the construction of an approximately 713 km long barrier in the West Bank. The predominant part of the separation barrier is a heavily secured metal fence with barbed wire. In certain parts, an up to eight feet high wall is built of armored concrete. The length of thread from which the cloth was woven, corresponds to the length of the Israeli wall, which until now measures a total of about 35 kilometers.
